Simple Little Home

Simple Little Home

The thing about doing blog design on the side while working full-time is that it takes me forever to find the extra time to actually *blog* about the designs I create. Which is exactly what happened with my latest. Simple Little Home’s makeover has been live for nearly a month now, and I’m just getting around to writing the post about it. My bad.

Anyhoo, Emily wanted to create a clean, organized space on her corner of the Internet, Simple Little Home, which is where I came in. Using some graphics that she selected from iStockphoto.com, I helped her to create a one-of-a-kind header with logo. We also worked together to get her blog’s navigation organized into a clear drop-down menu, so things are much, much easier to find. Everything is so … simple to locate now. Which is just perfect for her blog vibe → simple little website about a simple little home. Funny how that works out. And let’s not forget the social media icons I added into her header, which cleared up lots of space for other widgets on her sidebar. Not only that, but her Facebook page is now branded to match.

Oh, and we also added an author profile box at the top of her left sidebar, which makes it stand out from the rest of the page. Love it! I think every blogger needs to have an author profile box → it’s the growing trend, you know.

Thanks to Emily for allowing me to help her organize her space! It’s actually a form of therapy for my OCD everything-needs-its-own-place tendencies. :)

My {Kind of} Life

My {Kind of} Life

Marisa from My {Kind of} Life has recently debuted a new scrapbooking look for her blog. She selected the Bright Package along with a kit from Tracie Stroud, and I designed a clean, organized template for her site in a matter of days. I really love what the Bright Package offers -  a great simple package that gives your blog a complete makeover minus the high price tag. Cuz, really, you don’t really need all that fancy-schmancy “clutter” for a blog – it can be distracting for your readers. Keep it simple. Keep it clean. And keep it affordable. That’s my motto.

Balmain Beauty

Last week was a busy week for me. Not only did I start a new job, but I also installed two new blog designs for clients. This first one is a modern design, using images from istockphoto.com. The client, Karen, decided to rebrand her fashion and beauty blog with a new name, Balmain Beauty.

Here’s what she had to say about the new title:

Balmain is a suburb in Australia where I lived for quite a few years and I was at my happiest living there and I hope to return so it means something to me.

and

Beauty for the blog, which encompasses nails, makeup, cosmetics, skincare etc.

With the rebranding of Karen’s blogger blog came a new Twitter page and Facebook page as well, and she’s linking to all those sites via custom media icons at the top of her sidebar (the best place to put them, if you didn’t know).

I love the simplicity & cleanliness of her design. My greatest pet peeve is a blog that looks cluttered, and so I strive to create designs that are neat and well-organized.

Come back later this week for another blogger design reveal.

The 24 Hour Cafe - Custom Illustration via Nuttier Designs

I’m very excited to finally be able to reveal a blog design I’ve been working on for the past month, The 24 Hour Cafe. This design is part of a collaboration with Tillie from Nuttier Designs. She created a custom illustration for Emily, the client, and I built a template around her designs.

Emily selected the Daylight Package & had a very specific design in mind. And since I’m more of a scrapbooking designer, I asked Tillie, a friend and fellow blogger, to lend her graphic skills to the project. We put our heads together and created Emily’s awesome new blog design. As you can imagine, Tillie and I are very proud of the outcome.

Tillie and I are now collaborating on blog designs & you can read all the specifics here, if you’re interested in a custom illustration for your site. Spread the word!

New Affordable Scrapbooking Fall-Themed Premade Blogger Template

Crisp Fall

Well, now that the kids are back in school, it’s time to dust off your blog and get back in touch with the blogosphere. And what better way to do that than with a brand-new look for your blog. And I have just the one for you  → a premade blogger template with a crisp autumn theme.

I happen to love the colors of fall, so this design is one of my fave’s. Without a doubt. I’m calling it “Fall Back in Love with Autumn.”

There is only one template available for $35.00, in either a 2-column or 3-column layout (with room for a family photo along with your blog title), so don’t delay in placing your order. Cuz once it’s been sold, it’s gone for good and will removed from this site.

Without further ado, click here to view the new template, “Fall Back in Love with Autumn,” as well as all my other premades available.

One more thing: if y’all have any requests for future premade themes, let me hear it. Thanksgiving? Winter? Christmas? You name it. Just leave a comment with your suggestions.
